Following consultation in early 2025, the Councils of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Prince Edward Island (CLPNPEI) and the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island (CRNMPEI) have decided to move forward with creating a single regulator for the province’s nursing and midwifery professions. 

The decision reflects feedback from nurses, midwives, health partners, and the public, highlighting the importance of maintaining a strong focus on public protection while ensuring a seamless transition.
